MISS PAXTON LEADS THE WAY IN FEATURE SPRINT SCORE
OKLAHOMA CITY – Miss Paxton used her speed to assert her presence on the front end in Friday’s $38,600 allowance feature for Oklahoma-bred fillies and mares at Remington Park. Once in front of the field of seven, she controlled the situation to win by 1-3/4 lengths.
Owned by Wade Chickering of Piedmont, Okla. and trained by Lynn Chleborad, Miss Paxton was ridden by Alex Birzer. He put the gray filly on the lead from her outside gate post then gradually moved her over to the inside rail to save ground. That tactic paid off as she had plenty left for the stretch drive to hold late rallies by Diamond Disco and Kiss Me Chocolate at bay. Miss Paxton crossed the finish line in 1:04.67 for the 5-1/2 furlongs over the fast track.
The wagering favorite at 7-5 odds, Miss Paxton paid $4.80 to win, $2.80 to place and $2.10 to show. Diamond Disco was second and paid $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. Kiss Me Chocolate was third to pay $2.40 to show.
The win was the third from seven career starts for Miss Paxton and her second at Remington Park, both this season. A 3-year-old filly by Sir Shackleton from the Boston Harbor mare Harbor House, Miss Paxton picked up $22,348 for her triumph to run her lifetime money to $84,984.
Jockey Bryan McNeil won three races Friday starting with Chucks Turn ($5 to win) in race two followed by Bourbon King ($12.80) in the seventh race and Unbridled Frill ($13) in the ninth and final race. The hat trick gives McNeil 28 wins for the season.
