QUINONEZ RIDES FIVE WINNERS, Z ROCKSTAR PULLS CLEAR

OKLAHOMA CITY – Jockey Luis Quinonez enjoyed a stellar first night of November at Remington Park, scoring in five of the seven races in which he participated. Z Rockstar provided the fifth win in the quintet, drawing away in a $38,600 allowance sprint for Oklahoma-breds who were in search of their third-career victory.

Owned by Robert Zoellner of Tulsa, Okla. and trained by Donnie Von Hemel, Z Rockstar stalked the pace-setting Pucker Up Pete through the first half-mile of the six-furlong sprint before drawing even with him at the top of the stretch. The 3-year-old gray pulled away boldly in the final furlong to win by 2-1/4 lengths over a late charging Vivalafreddie, crossing the finish in 1:10.73 over a fast track.

The super-heavy favorite in the wagering at 1-9 odds, Z Rockstar paid $2.20 to win, $2.10 to place and $2.10 to show. Vivalafreddie returned $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. Pucker Up Pete held third and paid $2.60 to show.

The third-career victory for Z Rockstar was also his second Remington Park triumph. The score earned $22,450 for the gelded gray son of Rockport Harbor from the Nasty and Bold mare Nasty Little Star. His total bankroll now stands at $151,710.

Z Rockstar was the fifth and final victory for Quinonez, who swept to the top of the jockey standings with the big night. Allied ($7.20 to win) started the five-win night in race three, followed by Miss Party Artie ($4.60) in race four, Miss Lederhosen ($3) in race six and Por Que ($5.40) in the seventh.

Quinonez now has 46 wins on the season, moving two ahead of Cliff Berry who has 44 in second place.

Steve Asmussen added to his lead in the trainer standings as his Remington Park operation sent out Dusty’s Player ($6.40) in the second race in addition to Miss Lederhosen and Por Que. Asmussen now has 29 wins on the meeting, 11 ahead of Donnie Von Hemel who has 18 in second.
