BERRY VAULTS BACK TO LEAD IN STANDINGS WITH 3 WINS
OKLAHOMA CITY – Jockey Cliff Berry enjoyed the special afternoon race card Saturday at Remington Park, posting three victories. The run of success helped him jump back on top of the local rider standings. The Saturday afternoon races were run in conjunction with the Breeders’ Cup World Championship simulcast events.
Berry began his move back to the standings lead by taking the opening three races on the nine-race program. Land Run ($12.60 to win) provided the score in race one followed by Uno Ducksy ($8.60) in the second race and Cat Vanblu ($8) in the third.
Berry achieved his 4,000th career Thoroughbred victory on Oct. 27 but had relinquished the top spot in the standings to Luis Quinonez in the days following the milestone. The three-win day now gives Berry 49 wins for the season, two ahead of Quinonez who is in second with 47.
Berry is attempting to win his 15th Pat Steinberg Award at Remington Park, signifying the leading jockey during the Thoroughbred Season.
The 2012 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season continues Wednesday thru Saturday, Nov. 7-10. The first race each night is at 6:30pm.
The $100,000 Clever Trevor Stakes will be the featured event of the racing week on Friday night. The Clever Trevor is the second-leg of the Remington Park 2-year-old Triple. The series culminates with the $300,000 Springboard Mile in December. A total of 24 2-year-olds nominated to the Clever Trevor Stakes, to be run on the main track at seven furlongs.
Open daily at 10am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park.
