FOUR WINS FOR DOMINGUEZ ON THURSDAY AT AQUEDUCT; DOUBLE CARRYOVER INTO FRIDAY
Dominguez got off to a fast start, guiding Calibrachoa ($2.40) to a 4 ½-length victory in the first race, a claiming race. Following a third-place finish in race 2, Dominguez returned to take the third event, an optional claimer, with a neck decision aboard Shine Upon ($5.40).
Outside the trifecta in races 4 and 5, Dominguez posted an upset with Quippery ($16.00) in the sixth race, a maiden claimer. Dominguez was third in race 6 before he surprised the bettors again, coming from off the pace to win the eighth and featured event, the Restrainor for New York-bred 2-year-olds, with Sky Music ($16.20). Dominguez was fifth in the ninth race, the day’s finale.
With the conclusion of Thursday’s card, Dominguez tops the standings with 15 victories, six ahead of second-place rider David Cohen. Jose Lezcano and John Velazquez are tied for third with eight triumphs. Dominguez has won 10 of the last 11 meet titles on the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) circuit.
Aqueduct will offer a two-day carryover of $52,467.50 into Friday’s card.
The highlight of Aqueduct’s 36-day fall meet comes on Saturday, November 27 with a card featuring the Grade 1 Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Handicap, the Grade 1 Gazelle, the Grade 2 Remsen, and the Grade 2 Demoiselle.
