EIGHT BETTORS HIT BIG A PICK SIX FOR $135,719

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Friday’s Pick Six at Aqueduct Racetrack, which featured the second-largest carryover in the track’s history, returned $135,719 to eight bettors who correctly selected the final six winners on the card.

Chasing a $415,271 carryover, bettors wagered $1,206,135, with the $1,621,406 total Pick Six pool serving as the third-largest in the history of the Big A.

All eight tickets were purchased off track, with five of the tickets bought in Las Vegas. The Calder Race Course/Gulfstream Park hub, Bettor Racing OTB, and Suffolk OTB had one winner apiece. Horseplayers who selected five of the six winners received $614.

The Pick Six started in the fourth race with a pair of longshots battling to the finish as Pagan Ruler ($35.60) held off 59-1 Slamm’n Lou to win by a head.

In the second leg, the top two betting choices, Great Pass and Jimmy’s Sweetheart, dueled for the lead before Jimmy’s Sweetheart ($8.80), the less fancied of the two, drew away to a 6 ¾-length score.

Frivolous Buck ($8.50), exiting a runner-up effort in the John Hettinger at Belmont, closed in the final furlong to win the third leg of the Pick Six by three-parts of a length as the second choice.

Won Great Classic, a 44-1 bomb, led in the final sixteenth of the fourth leg before Top It ($6.90), the second selection, blew by late to prevail by 1 ¼ lengths.

Quebrada Shiner ($12.60) set the pace and showed her heels to the field in the stretch, registering a two-length victory in the fifth leg, an optional claimer on the turf for fillies and mares that served as the day’s featured race.

Full N Sassy concluded the Pick Six by running away to a 5 ½-length score, becoming the only favorite to win during the challenging sequence.

The record for the largest carryover in Aqueduct history is $761,027, which resulted in a total Pick Six pool of $3,391,343 on January 17, 2004.

The highlight of Aqueduct’s 36-day fall meet comes on Saturday, November 27 with a card featuring the Grade 1 Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Handicap, the Grade 1 Gazelle, the Grade 2 Remsen, and the Grade 2 Demoiselle.
