LAUREL TURF COURSE PRODUCES ANOTHER BIG PRICE
LAUREL, MD. 11-12-10---For the fourth time during the fall meeting, a horse with odds of better than 50-1 visited the winners’ circle after a victory on the Laurel Park turf course. Only 30 betting favorites have won the 95 races contested on the grass during the stand. The average win price is $19.80.
Chip Van Hassel gave 71-1 shot Rebel Challenger a perfect ride and defeated nine other horses in Friday’s third race. The Robbie Bailes trainee, who was winless in 10 previous starts this year, paid $144.80. The son of Ghostly Minister finished the 5-1/2 furlong claimer in 1:04.21 and crossed the wire one length ahead of Redefined.
On Oct. 6, Shordawatyadrink was a $255.40 winner on the dirt course.
