REMINGTON PARK OAKS AND GREEN PROVIDE STRONG LEAD TO OKLAHOMA DERBY SUNDAY
OKLAHOMA CITY – The $400,000 Oklahoma Derby is the main event on the lone Sunday afternoon of racing this season at Remington Park. The preliminary stakes races offer plenty of competition as both the Remington Park Oaks and Green drew solid fields.
The $200,000 Remington Park Oaks, for 3-year-old fillies at 1-1/16 miles, has a field of 10 with graded winner No Such Word leading the way as the morning-line favorite at 5-2 odds. Owned by Brereton C. Jones of Lexington, Ky. and trained by Cindy Jones, No Such Word won the Grade 3, $200,000 Monmouth Park Oaks in August and also won the Grade 3 $125,000 Honeybee Stakes at Oaklawn Park this spring.
No Such Word received favored status in the morning-line in a narrow call over the undefeated American Story who is trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert.
“A tough battle for favoritism between No Such Word and American Story in the Oaks,” said Remington Park odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk. “No Such Word is by far the most accomplished filly in the field but American Story is perfect in two attempts, and her allowance score at Del Mar was a gem.”
Jockey Terry Thompson is the regular rider for No Such Word, he’ll be in for the call in the Oaks on Sunday. Baffert has secured the services of leading southern California jockey Joel Rosario for American Story.
The field for the Remington Park Oaks, by post position and program number; with trainer, jockey and morning-line odds:

“Ready Set is the slight favorite off his superb effort in the Eight Thirty Stakes at Delaware Park, in which he went the mile and 70 yards in 1:38.93,” Shottenkirk said. “This is a group of very tough campaigners.”
Owned by Lael Stables and trained by Ronny Werner, Ready Set is a 5-year-old gelding by Touch Gold who has five wins, five places and five shows from his 27 career attempts with earnings of $731,029.
