HALLIESLEWYA HOLDS ON TO WIN OKLAHOMA-BRED FEATURE

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma-bred fillies and mares were featured Saturday night at Remington Park in a $36,800 allowance event at 6-1/2 furlongs. From the extreme outside post position, Hallieslewya quickly had position near the front of the field, took over in the stretch and held off a late charge to score by a neck.

Owned by Shannon Hinton of Edmond, Okla. and trained by Steve Asmussen, Hallieslewya was ridden to the win by Luis Quinonez. The 3-year-old filly was hustled away from her number 11 post in the starting gate, to battle for the lead with Valid A.J. In the middle of the lone turn, Quinonez set Hallieslewya on her way and she opened up a clear lead in the stretch.

Longshot Gospel Bag Lady came running from last in the field and made up massive ground to be second inside the final furlong. Hallieslewya was able to hit the finish a neck in front of her 45-1 rival and stop the clock in 1:18.68 over the fast track.

The 3-1 wagering favorite, Hallieslewya paid $8.60 to win, $5.40 to place and $3.80 to show. Gospel Bag Lady paid $26.40 to place and $6.40 to show. Valid A.J. held on for third place and $3.40 to show.

The win was the second from six career starts for Hallieslewya with both victories at Remington Park. A daughter of Evansville Slew from the Key To The Moon mare Key To India, Hallieslewya picked up $21,094 for the win to run her lifetime money to $51,809.
