Suffolk Downs Thursday to Unveil Racing Improvement Plan
for its Gaming Resort
New study shows economic impact of Thoroughbred industry in Massachusetts will increase 57% with a Resort at Suffolk Downs
Thursday, October 24, 2013 (Saugus, MA) – Clubhouse and grandstand renovations, enhancements to outdoor viewing areas, state-of-the-art technology, construction of new dormitories and additional upgrades to the barn area, and new racing surfaces are all part of Suffolk Downs’ racing improvement plan, which will be unveiled Thursday at Indian Rock Stables, a Thoroughbred breeding farm located in Saugus, MA. The racing improvement plan is part of Suffolk Downs’ overall proposal to develop a $1 billion world-class resort at the historic 78-year-old racetrack.
A new study of the Thoroughbred industry in Massachusetts shows that its economic benefits impact will increase 57 percent should Suffolk Downs earn a gaming license.

WHAT: Suffolk Downs will unveil its racing improvement plan that is included in its proposal to develop a $1 billion world-class resort. Track officials will also discuss the findings of a new study of the current and future economic impact of the Thoroughbred industry in Massachusetts should Suffolk Downs earn a gaming license. The industry currently generates 1,486 jobs and includes 133 farms and more than 6,000 acres of open space.
