STREAK GOES TO THREE FOR FAVORITE ANNOUNCER

OKLAHOMA CITY – Favorite Announcer launched from the Remington Park starting gate Thursday night in his $36,800 allowance race for Oklahoma-breds, seized the lead, and never looked back. The speedy 3-year-old drew clear to win the 1 mile-70 yard race by an easy five lengths to post his third straight victory this season.

Owned by Danny Caldwell of Poteau, Okla. and trained by Federico Villafranco, Favorite Announcer was ridden with confidence by Jose Medina. After leading the field through the second turn, Medina let Favorite Announcer go and the gelding opened up a wide margin on his competitors, leading by as many as six lengths in the stretch. Crossing the finish with plenty of energy in reserve, Favorite Announcer stopped the clock in 1:42.77 over the fast track.

The 3-2 wagering favorite, Favorite Announcer paid $5 to win, $3 to place and $2.40 to show. Roughout Okie gained ground from the back of the pack for second-place, returning $6 to place and $4 to show. Seven Slews was another 2-1/2 lengths behind the runner-up in third and paid $2.80 to show.

A son of Wild Tale from the Highland Blade mare Dazzling Debut, Favorite Announcer won for the fourth time from 13 career attempts. The three wins in his streak this season represent all of his career wins at Remington Park. Favorite Announcer earned $21,145 for the victory to boost his lifetime money to $60,411.

Remington Park racing continues Friday and Saturday nights with the first race nightly at 6:30pm. The featured stakes events this week are on Friday night with the $50,000 Oklahoma Stallion Stakes for colts and geldings and another $50,000 Oklahoma Stallions Stakes for fillies. Both races are at six furlongs for eligible 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds.

There are just seven racing dates left in the 2012 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season which culminates on Sunday, Dec. 9. The $300,000 Springboard Mile, the richest 2-year-old stakes race of the season, headlines the final program of the year.
