OKLAHOMA v TEXAS WEEK THEME FOR REMINGTON PARK, BERRY APPROACHES 4,000 WINS

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2012 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season continues this Wednesday thru Saturday with the first race nightly at 6:30pm. Joining with the football theme of the week, Remington Park will feature events with an Oklahoma vs. Texas flair as well.

 

While the special promotions take place in conjunction with live racing, jockey Cliff Berry will continue his quest to join an exclusive club. The Jones, Okla. resident is now just 14 wins away from his 4,000th career Thoroughbred victory. Only 63 other jockeys in the history of the sport have amassed at least 4,000 overall wins in the saddle.

 

Pro Boxing returns to Remington Park on Thursday night as fighters from Oklahoma face pugilists from Texas. The action begins at 7pm on track-level north, just inside the Casino Lobby entrance. The Oklahoma vs. Texas game will be featured on Saturday morning in the Bricktown Brewery with a special watch party. The 11am kickoff will get the action going on monitors and the Coors Light Superscreen. The first 100 to the watch party in Bricktown Brewery will receive a commemorative T-shirt and all will enjoy various specials during the game.

 

Live music will be featured in the casino on the Wild Rush Stage on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Boogie Fever plays on the stage on Thursday at 7pm. On Friday night at 9pm Replay has the entertainment while on Saturday it is 80z Enuf.

 

 

Bricktown Brewery Primetime Football

The Pro Football season is approaching the midway point of the season and the games are bigger when featured in the Bricktown Brewery on the Casino floor, especially the primetime games on Sundays and Mondays. The games will be displayed on the Coors Light Superscreen and on all monitors in the Brewery. Enjoy the action with Bricktown Brewery pints of craft beer for just $1.50. In addition, the delicious appetizers are available for $2 off (dine-in only). The schedule this week has San Diego at New Orleans on Sunday with Houston at the New York Jets on Monday.

 

Next week’s schedule has Green Bay at Houston on Sunday, Oct. 14 and Denver at San Diego on Monday, Oct. 15.

 

Leading Horsemen

The battle for the top of the jockey standings remains strong with a title-favorite yet to emerge. Luis Quinonez leads the milestone-approaching Cliff Berry by one win, 31 to 30.

 

Trainer Steve Asmussen, inducted into the Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame on Sept. 26, leads all conditioners with 22 wins, 10 ahead of J.R. Caldwell who is second on the season.

 

 

Coming up:

$1 million Oklahoma Classics will be contested on Friday, Oct. 19. The night features eight divisional stakes races for eligible and accredited Oklahoma-bred runners… The Breeders’ Cup World Championships are fast approaching. Remington Park will present a special Saturday afternoon of racing on Nov. 3, alternating live races with the big Breeders’ Cup Stakes action. The first Remington Park race on Saturday, Nov. 3 is at 1:30pm.
