OKLAHOMA DERBY MONTH ARRIVES, BRICKTOWN BREWERY FOOTBALL PARTIES SET, BERRY APPROACHING MILESTONE

OKLAHOMA CITY – Remington Park’s racing schedule is shortened a tad this week to just three racing nights, Thursday thru Saturday. Due to the special Labor Day afternoon of racing, there will be no live racing on Wednesday, Sept. 5.  Live racing resumes Thursday thru Saturday, Sept. 6-8. The first race every night is at 6:30pm.

Preparations are already underway as a full week of activity will lead to the biggest race day of the season, the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby and the over $1 million in stakes purse money on the line that afternoon.

In simulcast racing this Saturday, Sept. 8, the $500,000 Super Derby from Louisiana Downs will be offered to Remington Park fans to watch and wager. The race is annually a key event with many participants traveling to Remington Park for their next start in the Oklahoma Derby.

The Pro Football season is here and the Bricktown Brewery on the Casino floor has the action covered for all fans on both Sunday and Monday nights. The primetime games will be displayed on the Coors Light Superscreen with Bricktown Brewery pints of craft beer on special for just $1.50. In addition, the delicious appetizers are available for $2 off (dine-in only).

BERRY WATCH

Jockey Cliff Berry, a 14-time winner of the Pat Steinberg Award denoting the leading Thoroughbred rider at Remington Park, is approaching another career milestone. The Jones, Okla. resident enters the Remington Park racing week just 22 wins away from his 4,000th career Thoroughbred win.

The 4,000-win mark is special as only 63 jockeys in the history of the sport have reached the plateau. Berry would become the 64th to achieve the mark and is currently 68th on the all-time wins list for Thoroughbred jockeys at 3,968.

After the 4,000-win mark, the 5,000-win club awaits with it special membership. Only 25 jockeys have won enough races to join the elite group.

Berry is currently second in the Remington Park season standings with 12 wins, trailing Luis Quinonez by just one victory.
