ADDITIONS TO RESTAURANT ROW, THE POST AND EXPANDED BREAKFAST OPTIONS AMONG THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2012 SEASON
The
“NYRA is constantly looking for ways to enhance the overall experience for track patrons. By combining the new beer garden with some of the track’s most sought-after dining options, we intend to make the Carousel area a signature hospitality space for our guests,” said NYRA Vice President & Director of Hospitality and Group Sales Stephen Travers. “We are excited to update and invigorate the area to provide track patrons with another premier food and beverage destination on track.”
Located under two open-air tents just outside the Carousel, the Saratoga Beer Garden will offer a dozen domestic craft beers for $5 each (12 oz.) including: Adirondack Bear Naked Ale; Batch 19; Blue Moon Belgian White; Blue Moon Summer; Brooklyn Summer; Harpoon IPA; Leinenkugel Summer Shandy; Magic Hat #9; Olde Saratoga IPA; Sam Adams Lager; Sam Adams Summer Ale; and Saranac Blueberry Blonde.

Rounding out the Carousel’s offerings will be the debut of Moe’s Southwest Grill food truck, serving tacos and burritos; plus returning favorites Ben & Jerry’s, Carolina Barbecue and Pies on Wheels.
Restaurant Row at Saratoga Race Course welcomes newcomers Siro’s and Bettie’s Cakes
The 2012 Restaurant Row lineup of local restaurateurs will feature a mix of new establishments and popular favorites from the region’s dining scene. New additions include Siro’s, the iconic hotspot known for its après parties on
Familiar local establishments Old Daley Inn and Putnam Market return to Restaurant Row to conclude this year’s culinary selections. A slightly reconfigured section of Restaurant Row will also include Miller Express, featuring draft beer from Miller Brewing Company.
A year after slashing beer prices by as much as 33 percent, NYRA will again offer $3 domestic draft beers and $4 draft imports at select locations throughout Saratoga Race Course.
The popular $5 value meal – hot dog or slider, chips and soda – offered exclusively in the backyard for the first time last season, will now be available in two locations for 2012: once again near the former Bunberry’s and a new location near the Big Red Spring.

Additionally, fans can take advantage of an all-new à la carte menu which will be available for the first time during the trackside morning breakfast. The new menu will allow patrons the option to customize their breakfast outside the buffet with individually priced items including: two eggs with bacon or sausage and toast ($4.50); omelet with cheddar, Swiss or American cheese with twice-cooked home fries and toast ($6.50); trackside corned beef hash served with two eggs and toast ($6.50); the Belmont Breakfast Sammie on Italian or wheat with sharp cheddar and jack cheeses ($5); and Paddock pancakes with maple syrup and strawberry butter ($6).
A la carte diners can supplement their entrees with one egg ($1); twice-cooked home fries ($2.25); Italian, wheat or rye toast ($1.25); corned beef hash ($3.50); and bacon or sausage ($2.50). Breakfast is served each racing day from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Admission is free.
New to The Post this season is El Verano Taquería, a modern-day taco stand that brings authentic Mexican food and flavors to the location previously occupied by Blue Smoke. Fans can enjoy soft corn tacos or folded quesadillas with their choice of fillings: Barbacoa (slow-cooked beef with chipotle & guajillo peppers), Chicken Pipian (grilled chicken breast with green molé), Carnitas (slow-cooked pork shoulder) or Roasted Vegetables. Additional menu offerings include Chips and Fire-roasted Tomato Salsa and freshly made Churros served with Chocolate Sauce.

The Bar at The Post will serve up specialty cocktails like The Breeders’ Cup and The Capital Julep in addition to all day beer specials starting at $3. On Friday and Saturday evenings immediately following the last race, fans can gather at The Post for live music performances from New Orleans-inspired house band Buck2Fifty; plus special guest performances from local band MIRK and emerging downstate artists Ula Ruth and Missy Modell.
El Verano Taquería, Shake Shack, Box Frites and The Bar at The Post are properties of Union Square Events, the event services business from Danny Meyer’s renowned Union Square Hospitality Group.
Additionally, Dunkin’ Donuts will return for its second summer at Saratoga Race Course. Located by the bandstand across from customer service, Dunkin’ Donuts will feature a full line of America’s favorite coffee, baked goods and beverages, beginning at 7 a.m. and remaining open through the day’s final post.
Saratoga Race Course will celebrate Opening Day of the 144th racing season on Friday, July 20, with gates opening at 11 a.m. and first post scheduled for 1 p.m.
