BELMONT TO HOST ‘PARTY AT THE PARK’ NEXT THREE FRIDAYS
ELMONT, N.Y. – Belmont Park will put on the biggest party on Long Island the next three Fridays when it hosts Party at the Park, presented by Corona Light, featuring live music, food and drink specials, and nine thoroughbred races on June 29, July 6, and July 13.
Post time for first race on the three Party at the Park Fridays will be 3 p.m. When live racing concludes (approximately 7:15 p.m.), live music takes the stage in Belmont’s backyard.
On June 29, Party at the Park will feature Zebra, which has been a fixture on the Long Island entertainment scene since they relocated here from New Orleans in 1976. Their self-titled debut album became the fastest-selling record in Atlantic Records history, moving 75,000 copies in the first week. Zebra has shared the bill in arenas throughout the U.S. with the likes of Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Kiss, ZZ Top, and Aerosmith.
The sights and sounds of the Emerald Isle will come to Belmont July 6 when The Mickey Finns and Niall O’Leary’s School of Irish Dance take the stage. The Mickey Finns are one of New York’s greatest Celtic trios, having appeared with The Corrs, Black ’47, Shane MacGowan, Elvis Costello, and Van Morrison, among others. Niall O’Leary, a former All-Ireland and World Champion Irish dancer, will bring some of his most talented students to perform.
The July 6 Party at the Park will also include a Belmont Park beverage koozie giveaway. Be sure to pick up your own koozie at one of the entrance points while supplies last!
Big Shot, “The Ultimate Billy Joel Experience,” will perform at the final Party at the Park on July 13. Comprising professional, national touring musicians, Big Shot plays Billy Joel’s hit songs in a tribute so spot-on that Billy Joel himself said, “They had a hard time convincing me that it wasn’t me.” The band also covers Elton John, The Beatles, Journey, Paul McCartney, Marc Cohn, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and many others!
Belmont Park’s spring/summer meet runs through July 15 before racing shifts to Saratoga Race Course on July 20. With the exception of the three Party at the Park Fridays, first race post time is 12:50 p.m.
