‘GALLOPING OUT’ FUNDRAISER TO BE HELD AT ARLINGTON PARK AS PART OF PRAIRIE STATE FESTIVAL DAY JUNE 16

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (June 2, 2012) – In addition to six $125,000 stakes races restricted to Illinois-registered horses that comprise the annual Prairie State Festival on Saturday, June 16, there will be a fundraiser before, during and after the races to benefit the Galloping Out Foundation for the rescue and care of retired Thoroughbred racehorses.

Galloping Out Foundation, launched in 2010 as a cooperative effort between the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and the Chicagoland Thoroughbred racecourses, is a 501(c)-3 non-profit organization to provide for the care of retired Thoroughbred race horses.

Prior to the races from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., there will be a jockey autograph session where for a nominal donation fans can get an autograph from their favorite Arlington Park jockeys.

During the race card, fans will have an opportunity to purchase a Galloping Out T-shirt and participate in a silent auction for special racing-related items like “dinner with a jockey” and “a day with a trainer” as well as other racing experiences.

Following the races, Arlington Park will host the Galloping Out 2012 Charity Fundraiser in the track’s Park area where there will be a live auction, a wine raffle, live entertainment by singer-songwriter-musician Peter Guerin and a chance to mingle with trainers and jockeys.

Among the live auction items are a chance to win a “fantasy owner” experience in which a horse will wear custom silks designed by the winning bidder who will also be able to talk strategy with the jockey and trainer in the paddock prior to the race plus a picture in the winner’s circle after the race (with the horse should it win or with the jockey otherwise). In addition, horse lovers will be able to bid to sponsor a retired Thoroughbred racehorse at varying levels from as little as one shoeing to an entire year of overall care.

Tickets for the event are $50 which will include a dinner buffet and one drink ticket.  For more information, contact Mary Stout in the ITHA office at 847-577-6464.
