HIT THE CROWN SHATTERS TRACK RECORD AT HIALEAH

Hialeah, FL December 4- Today marked the 2nd day of Quarter Horse Racing at Hialeah Park for the 2010-2011 race meet.  The racing fans were treated to another sunny South Florida day for the Trials for the Lassie Futurity for two year-old fillies.

The trials were contested over 3 races with A First Down Chick, ridden by Larry Payne, winning for owners Jaime Gomez and Ron and Denise Gomez in the first trial.  William Harris trained the daughter of First Down Dash out of the Chicks Beduino mare A Tempting Chick.  Endless Ocean, ridden by Oscar Delgado for trainer Jose Baltierrez and owner Abelino Rojas delivered as the odds-on favorite in the third trial, covering the course in 19.62 while wrapped up late.

The star of the show however, had to have been Rob Waters’ Hit The Crown. With Larry Payne up, the son of the thoroughbred Dance Master out of My Lady Amber broke like a rocket and destroyed the field, stopping the timer in a track record time of 19.408. This eclipses the previous mark of Debs Rqd of 19.64 set last year. This moves the young filly’s lifetime record to 3 for 3 after two sharp victories at Fair Meadows this summer.
