GREEN DIGGER DOES IT AGAIN, ALONE ON THE FRONT FOR VICTORY
OKLAHOMA CITY – Green Digger loves his privacy. Wednesday night he managed to get more alone time as he went to the front of a field of 11 in a starter allowance with a purse of $15,000. The unrivaled effort turned into his third consecutive victory as he led all the way at 1 mile-70 yards.
Owned by B.E. Howerter of Coffeyville, Kan. and trained by Kari Craddock, Green Digger won under Alex Birzer, crossing the finish 5-1/2 lengths ahead of his nearest foe. The wagering favorite at 3-2 odds, Green Digger has won three races in a row this season, the first two at one mile, all with the same style of run… head to the lead and never look back. The 4-year-old gelding stopped the clock in 1:41.07 over the fast main track.
Our Sacred Honor was along for second, three-quarters of a length better than Scrappy Roo who was third.
Green Digger paid $5 to win, $3.40 to place and $3 to show. Our Sacred Honor returned $5.40 to place and $3.40 to show. Scrappy Roo paid $3.80 to show.
