SUGAR ADDED SCORES IN THURSDAY TURF FEATURE, CONTINUES SOLID REMINGTON PARK CAREER
OKLAHOMA CITY – Sugar Added has made nearly half of her career starts at Remington Park, never finishing worse than third. However, she had never visited the winner’s circle here until her seventh local attempt Thursday night.
Owned by Michael Grossman of Fredericksburg, Texas and trained by Francisco Bravo, Sugar Added was handled in the $29,500 optional allowance race by Bryan McNeil. A 4-year-old gray filly, Sugar Added had posted three places and three shows in her first six Remington Park races. Thursday night she was able to make a rally from just off the lead, moving at the start of the second turn. She managed to continue past all rivals in the stretch to triumph by 1-1/2 lengths.
Tez Savitri moved from last after a half-mile to make second, a neck better than Shine Softly who battled for the lead throughout the 7-1/2 furlongs over the lawn before settling for third. Admissible was along for fourth.
Sugar Added crossed the finish in 1:31.91 over the firm turf.
Away as the 5-2 wagering favorite, Sugar Added returned $7.40 to win, $4.80 to place and $3.40 to show. Tez Savitri paid $23.20 to place and $8.20 to show. Shine Softly paid $3.60 to show.
The exacta (Nos.1-8) paid $120.60 with the quinella (1-8) paying $81.80. The trifecta (1-8-6) returned $500.80 with the superfecta (1-8-6-5) paying $3,254.20.
Sugar Added is a Kentucky-bred daughter of Johar from the Binalong mare Bin Sweet. She won her third career race from 15 attempts, earning $17,520 to move her overall bankroll to $83,202.
Jockey Ramsey Zimmerman won three races Thursday, taking over third-place in the rider standings. He won aboard Dilly Whopper ($10.20 to win) in the opener, Vanefuhr ($15.40) in the fourth race and Wait in Line ($4.40) in the sixth race.
The hat trick gives Zimmerman 31 wins for the season, putting him third in the standings just 10 behind the leader Cliff Berry who has 41 wins. Aaron Gryder is second with 35 wins.
