ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE TURF SPRINT FOR WHOLELOTATRICKS
OKLAHOMA CITY – Wholelotatricks has found his niche and is reaping the rewards of a specialist. The 4-year-old Florida-bred won another five-furlong turf allowance on Wednesday at Remington Park as he continues to pile up the victories in turf sprints.
Owned by the Anadarko, Okla. partnership of Todd Sneed and Freddie Jantzen, Wholelotatricks is trained by Sneed and was ridden in Wednesday’s $29,500 optional allowance feature by Bryan McNeil. After getting away from the starting gate in sharp order, McNeil let Wholelotatricks relax after the opening furlong until the field of eight made the lone turn. At that point he began his run for position, advancing to the front with one furlong left, then pulling clear to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Tomahawk Creek. Bizet rallied into third, another three-quarters of a length behind.
Wholelotatricks handled the firm five furlongs over the turf in :56 seconds-flat. It was his second consecutive win in a turf sprint at Remington Park and his fifth overall from his last six at the distance over grass. The five turf scores account for all but one of his career victories.
Favored at 2-1 odds, Wholelotatricks paid $6.40 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.40 to show. Tomahawk Creek returned $7 to place and $4 to show. Bizet paid $3.80 to show.
The sixth career victory from 16 attempts for Wholelotatricks was worth $17,565. His second Remington Park career score helped boost his overall bankroll to $92,217. The colt by 1997 Horse of the Year Favorite Trick, from the Lost Soldier mare Wholelotasoldier, was claimed last October at Remington Park by his new owners for the sum of $7,500. In races since that claim, Wholelotatricks has earned $64,730.
Live racing continues Thursday thru Saturday at 6:30pm with a special Sunday program at 1:30pm, featuring the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby, the top thoroughbred race in the state.
