FLEET MITCHY MOVES BACK TO MAIN TRACK TO CONTINUE WIN STREAK

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Remington Park Thoroughbred Season wrapped up the November portion of the schedule on Saturday night with Fleet Mitchy picking up his third consecutive victory. The first two races in the streak were over the turf course while the Saturday triumph was on the main track.

The Remington Park turf course closed in mid-November. That meant Fleet Mitchy, and all others who had excelled over the local lawn, would have to carry their success to the main track for the remainder of the season. The 5-year-old gelding had no troubles in moving his streak to three straight in a $35,775 allowance event at one mile. Fleet Mitchy dueled with King Kid down the stretch before winning by a neck, covering the ground in 1:38.06 over a fast track.

Owned by Marcus Penn of Dallas and trained by J.R. Caldwell, Fleet Mitchy was ridden by Jareth Loveberry who has been up for all three of his streak scores. Away at odds of 6-1, Fleet Mitchy paid $15.20 to win, $10.20 to place and $6.60 to show. King Kid, the wagering favorite at 3-1 odds, paid $4.40 to place and $3 to show. Dazzling Okie was third and paid $5.80 to show.

An Oklahoma-bred by Northern Afleet from the Pleasant Tap mare Tap Tap Tap, Fleet Mitchy won his sixth career race from 19 attempts. The first-place check of $21,768 moves the overall earnings for Fleet Mitchy to $102,951.

Earlier in the Saturday program, Only Liquor continued his own streak, picking up his fourth straight win in a $6,250-level claiming event. A regular competitor in lower-level claiming races this season, Only Liquor will be one of many in line for the honor of the season’s Champion Claimer award.

Remington Park moves into December with just seven race dates remaining in the 2014 season. The action continues Wednesday thru Saturday, Dec. 3-6, with the first race nightly at 7pm Central.

Remington Park is open daily at 10:30am for simulcast racing and casino gaming, featuring the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, the home of the $250,000 Springboard Mile on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Tracked by over 74,000 fans on Facebook and 5,900 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
