NEW ORLEANS (Friday, March 01, 2013) – Gallant Stable’s Majestic Harbor took command from Brereton Jones’s Mr. Bowling leaving the backstretch and held that rival safe the rest of the way to light up the tote board with mutuels of $11.80, $5.80 and $4.20 during Friday’s $51,000 allowance and $62,500 optional claiming feature on the Starlight Racing program at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

The winner, best by 1 1/4-lengths at the wire, was ridden by Miguel Mena, trained by Paul McGee and toured the 1 1/16-mile distance in 1:44.90.   The son of Rockport Harbor increased his career earnings to $204,314 with his fourth career win in 15 lifetime starts.

Mr. Bowling, who set early fractions of 24.46 and 49.04, held sway for the second spot at the wire, paying $18 and $9.20 while finishing three-quarters of a length in front of Keith Plaisance’s Wash Park, who returned $7.40 to show.

Racing resumes Saturday at Fair Grounds with an 11-race program featuring two stakes for sophomores slated for the Stall-Wilson Turf Course.  Post-time is 1 p.m.
