THREE CHIMNEYS HOPEFUL (G1) QUOTES

Rick Dutrow, winning trainer of Boys At Tosconova (No. 5): “He was good enough to get this job done, the right way. The first time we ran him, he didn’t break on the lead, and he was OK behind horses. The first time he had run, he came from dead last. It’s not like he needs the lead, as anyone can see. But if he ever does wind up on the lead, it’s going to be tough to pass him. It seems to us he has no limit. He’ll just keep running and running and running.

“We’re just excited to have him. He’s very exciting to be around. I was confident. I thought we had the best horse in the race. I told Ramon, if he breaks on the lead, let them just follow you around there; if not, that will work to our advantage because he loves a target. I knew it was better to come from off the pace.

“Next? Breeders’ Cup [Juvenile]. If he stays this way, and trains like he did coming into this race – he already likes that racetrack. It’s a matter of two turns with him, and we certainly are not going to be afraid of it.”

Ramon Dominguez, wining rider aboard Boys At Tosconova (No. 5): “I knew the two horses on the outside had speed, so I talked to Rick about where he wanted me and we just decided to play it by ear. When he broke, I just decided to put him where he was comfortable, so I just eased him to the outside. He did it so easy and he even galloped out strong past the seven-eighths pole. It's really exciting for me because it's hard to come across a two-year-old this nice, especially to ride. Like every time you give him a chance he will take a deep breath, relax, and look around. He's very, very professional. I didn't have to hit him today and hopefully I won't have to. It was that easy.”

Todd Pletcher, trainer of runner-up Stay Thirsty (No. 6): “I thought he ran very well. We were coming back on short rest – three weeks – but I thought he ran a big race. He stumbled pretty badly at the start, got up, recovered pretty well, it was a good effort.”

John Velazquez, jockey aboard runner-up Stay Thirsty (No. 6): “He stumbled leaving out there, which is one thing I didn’t want to happen, but it happened. He actually ran a really good race, though. He got beat by a nice horse, and I’m proud of him. He did everything good but win.”

Steve Asmussen, trainer of third-place finisher Wine Police (No. 7): “We had a great trip. He ran great and it was a good race. I think that was a really good group and for his second race, that was a big step up. Everything went so easy with him the first time but I think he’ll get a lot out of this and hopefully he can train forward and he’ll stay at this level. He’s just a baby, second time out. We’ll see how he comes out and how much it took out of him and see if it changes his attitude or something, then we’ll look ahead but he had a good trip today.”

Shaun Bridgmohan, jockey aboard third-place finisher Wine Police (No. 7): “I had a beautiful trip, I thought. He was really comfortable down the backside and then continued running all the way to the wire. He broke very alertly as well.”
