GALLANT BLOOM (G2) QUOTES

Eddie Kenneally, winning trainer of My Jen (No. 5): “There was some speed in the race, she broke sharply, found a good position, and relaxed behind the pace. She struggled a little bit when she was in tight around the turn; Julien said he was concerned. But he found some running room turning for home and she battled on gamely. Very determined. Last time at Saratoga, that track was very speed-biased, plus our filly was coming off a seven-month layoff. So, to finish second to Rapport was a big effort that day, and we knew she’d benefit from that and move forward for today’s race, which she did. [Breeders’ Cup?] We’ll see. It’s a 3-year-old filly running against older horses. She did it today … it’s a possibility. We have Warbling in that division as well. Who knows? Maybe they’ll both run. We were very pleased with today’s effort.”

Julien Leparoux, winning rider aboard My Jen (No. 5): “She broke well and I just let her settle a little bit. But then, around the turn, she started to go backwards, so I was kind of scared about that. But she has a big heart, and when I got outside and started to ride her, she gave me a good kick at the end. Last time she ran at Saratoga was coming in off a long layoff and she really ran big that day. I wasn’t sure if she was going to win this race because the other filly [Rapport, No.8]is pretty good, but I was confident that she would give me a good run and she did.”

Eoin Harty, trainer of runner-up Moontune Missy (No. 7): “I was disappointed that she didn’t win, but I was delighted that she ran as well as she did. It’s a long stretch.”

Alan Garcia, jockey aboard runner-up Moontune Missy (No. 7): “I had a great trip. I thought I had a good chance when I saw the favorite [Rapport, No. 8] drop back. She’s a good filly, but I don’t have any excuses.”

Martin Garcia, jockey aboard beaten favorite and sixth-place finisher Rapport (No. 8): She didn’t feel comfortable today. She had no speed. She doesn’t have excuses for the loss, she just didn’t feel comfortable. She didn’t respond like what I was waiting for. She didn’t give me anything.”
