FOUR WINNING SARATOGA PICK 6 TICKETS AT $377,883 EACH

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Four winning tickets correctly selected the winners of each of the Pick 6 races Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course and were rewarded handsomely with payouts of $377,883.

Wednesday’s handle of $1,925,068 was the largest single-day Pick 6 handle at Saratoga going back to 2000, and is believed to be one of the largest in the track’s history. The total pool of $2,368,342, including the carryover of $443,274, was the largest since September 4, 2009, when there was a total Pick 6 pool of $2,479,992. Wednesday’s total pool was the second-largest Saratoga Pick 6 total going back to 2000.

The Pick 6 got underway in chalky fashion when John Velazquez went wire-to-wire on Peat Bay ($4.80 to win; favorite) in the fifth race and Devilish Due ($8.60; second choice) was guided by Eibar Coa to victory in the sixth race. The next two legs were mild surprises as Power Dreams ($10.60; third choice) took to the turf under David Cohen in the seventh race and Fancy Point ($9.70; third choice) led start to finish with Javier Castellano aboard in the eighth race. The final two legs were the toughest to figure, as Miguel Mena rode Crowned General ($21.40; fifth choice) to a head victory in the ninth race and Castellano got his second win the sequence on a slick ride with Slick Wheelie ($16.80; fourth choice) in the finale.

Of the four winning tickets, two were sold at TwinSpires.com, one was sold at Connecticut OTB, and one was sold at the Meadowlands.
