BELMONT OFFERS FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE ON SATURDAYS
ELMONT, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will provide free round-trip “Belmont Special” shuttle service between Avenue U in Brooklyn and Belmont Park on every Saturday during the 2010 Fall Championship Meet, with service set to begin tomorrow.
Through the final Saturday of the meet, patrons will be picked up Avenue U, between Nostrand Avenue and 29th Street, and go directly to Belmont Park. A return shuttle will leave Belmont at 5:30 p.m. and will take riders back to Avenue U.
Every Saturday at Belmont Park, NYRA offers a $300,000 Guaranteed Late Pick 4 on the final four races of the day. The Late Pick 4 is a $1 minimum wager in which the bettor must correctly pick the winners of the last four races on the card, usually beginning with race 7. By guaranteeing the wager for $300,000, NYRA will supplement the difference if the total wagering pool for the Saturday Late Pick 4 is less than $300,000.
Also on Saturdays, fans can catch great graded stakes action, with Belmont set to host five Grade 1 stakes – the Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational, the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational, the Flower Bowl Invitational, Beldame, and Vosburgh – on Super Saturday, October 2. On October 9 Belmont will conduct the Grade 1 Champagne, Grade 1 Frizette, and Grade 1 Jamaica Handicap, and on October 23 the track will present New York Showcase Day, which offers seven stakes for New York-breds. Other Saturday stakes this fall are the Grade 1 Garden City on September 18, the Grade II Gallant Bloom on September 25, the Grade 3 Athenia on October 16, and the Grade 3 Bold Ruler and Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm on October 30.
Belmont Park’s Fall Championship Meet concludes on Sunday, October 31, with racing resuming at Aqueduct Racetrack on Friday, November 5.
