MEDIA ADVISORY: RACHEL ALEXANDRA SCHOOLING IN SARATOGA PADDOCK ON THURSDAY
When: Thursday, August 26, at approximately 2:50 p.m., prior to the 5th race
Where: Saratoga Race Course Paddock
What: Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Horse of the Year, will be schooling in the Saratoga paddock in preparation for her run in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign on Sunday, August 29.
The 4-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro will arrive in the paddock with the horses being saddled for the 5th race, which has an approximate post time of 3:13 p.m.
Last year during Saratoga’s closing weekend, Rachel Alexandra crowned her remarkable campaign by becoming the first 3-year-old filly to defeat older males in the Grade 1 Woodward. Her return to the Spa this year for Sunday’s Personal Ensign caps an extraordinary weekend of racing that also includes the Grade 2 Bernard Baruch on Friday, the Grade 1 Travers, Grade 1 King’s Bishop, Grade 1 Ballerina, Grade 2 Ballston Spa, and Grade 3 Victory Ride on Saturday.
