SCHUYLERVILLE (G3) QUOTES

Rick Dutrow, Jr., winning trainer of Le Mi Geaux (No. 3): “That was a pleasant surprise. We’re very happy. I have to give all the credit to the owner [Lansdon B. Robbins, III] because he was the one who wanted to run her here. I thought she was in too tough. I thought the wet track might help us, but that was only a hope. I’m sure Mr. Robbins will want to go to the Spinaway [Grade 1, September 5].”

Frederic Lenclud, winning jockey aboard Le Mi Geaux (No. 3): “We were supposed to be really close to the lead, like she did last time, but she didn’t break as sharp and there was a lot of speed, so we had to sit behind the leaders. I thought she really did something good today because it’s hard to come back on the mud and she really finished strong down the lane.”

Todd Pletcher, trainer of favored runner-up Stopspendingmaria (No. 2): “It was a tough post position on a tough track. We were kind of committed to go, and several other guys with outside posts were committed to go. You win the battle and lose the war sometimes.”

John Velazquez, rider of favored runner-up Stopspendingmaria (No. 2): “It was tough from the start. We were in a difficult position with everyone chasing her. For the first time in the slop, she was jumping every path. There was nothing that we could do. I had to keep her in contention while being comfortable. She had to run fast and jump everything. She ran her heart out, only to get beat."

Patrick Biancone, trainer of third-place finisher Show Me the Bling (No. 6): “Green as the grass! She’ll improve off that. We’ll be all right.”

Julien Leparoux, jockey aboard third-place finisher Show Me the Bling (No. 6): “She was just green through the stretch; otherwise, she ran well.”
