MEDIA ADVISORY: JOCKEYS AND HORSEMEN “HOOP IT UP” FOR CHARITY

 

WHAT: A charity basketball game to raise funds for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) and the New York Race Track Chaplaincy.

 

WHO: The New York jockeys take on a squad of New York horsemen and racetrack executives.

 

Expected to play for the jockeys are Robby Albarado, Javier Castellano, Eibar Coa, Kent Desormeaux, Alan Garcia, Jose Lezcano, and John Velazquez.

 

Expected to play for the horsemen and executives are NYRA Chairman C. Steven Duncker, NYRA VP and Director of Racing P.J. Campo, NYRA Director of Marketing Neema Ghazi, trainers Todd Pletcher, Linda Rice, and Richard Schosberg, WinStar Farm VP and Racing Manager Elliot Walden, and West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley.

 

WHEN: Wednesday, July 28 at 7 p.m. Cost of admission is $15 with proceeds going to benefit the PDJF and NY Race Track Chaplaincy.

 

WHERE: The Saratoga Springs Rec Center, located at 15 Vanderbilt Ave., Saratoga Springs, N.Y., 12866.
