GRAYSON-JOCKEY CLUB RESEARCH FOUNDATION

RECEIVES TWO CONTRIBUTIONS FROM TCA

Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation recently received two contributions totaling $19,600 from the Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA). The donations were designated by Pin Oak Stud and Darley Stud from the TCA’s 2009 sale of stallion seasons.

One donation, in the amount of $14,800, was made in support of the foundation’s core mission of funding research benefiting the health and safety of all horses; the other, in the amount of $4,800, was earmarked for the Equine Drug Research Institute, a foundation committee that supports efforts to detect illegal medication in racehorses.

“Thoroughbred Charities of America is a widely recognized positive force in the industry,” said Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation President Edward L. Bowen. “It supports a broad range of worthwhile endeavors on behalf of the horse, and we are very appreciative that the foundation’s work is deemed worthy of these donations. We thank Darley Stud and Pin Oak Stud for designating us as a recipient.”

Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation currently is funding 19 projects and, since 1983, has provided $17.1 million to fund 270 projects at 37 universities.
