NYRA UNVEILS 2010 TRAVERS LOGO

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has unveiled the logo for the 141st running of the Travers, the 1 ¼-mile “Midsummer Derby,” the oldest major stakes race in the country for 3-year-olds.

The 2010 Travers logo features a silhouetted horse galloping above the famed Travers canoe, which floats peacefully on a pond in the Saratoga Race Course infield. Each year, the canoe is painted in the colors of the winning owner’s silks. Last year’s Travers winner Summer Bird, campaigned by owners Kalarikkal and Vilasini Jayaraman and trainer Tim Ice, went on to claim Eclipse Award Champion 3-year-old honors.

The 2010 Travers logo was designed by Eric Johnston of Art Design Studios, website located at http://www.ericmjohnston.com/.

The 141st running of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers will be held Saturday, August 28. The prestigious race was first run in 1864, making it the oldest major stakes race in the country for 3-year-olds.
