WINDY WINTER BLAST DOES NOT HINDER JENNA’S LEMON

OKLAHOMA CITY – Temperatures plummeted from the mid-60s in the afternoon to 34-degrees by the first race on Thursday at Remington Park. A winter front rolled over Oklahoma City, cooling things off and bringing strong northerly winds at 27mph. The wind aided the winners as they came down the stretch to the finish, including another in-the-money run by Jenna’s Lemon who won the eighth race.

Owned by Robson Thoroughbreds of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and trained by Chris Hartman, Jenna’s Lemon rallied from just off the pace to win by a half-length under jockey Ken Tohill. The 5-year-old gelding has started four times this Remington Park season, now with two wins and two more second-place finishes.

Jenna’s Lemon handled six furlongs in 1:11.71 over a fast track as the even-money wagering favorite, paying $4.20 to win, $2.80 to place and $2.10 to show. Strategic Player was second and returned $6.80 to place and $3.40 to show. Sharp Kane ran third to pay $3.60 to show.

The win was the sixth from 28 career starts for Jenna’s Lemon, a Kentucky-bred son of Wiseman’s Ferry from the Holy Bull mare Plucky Broad. He earned $6,747 for the victory to move his overall bankroll to $86,830.

The winter blast is expected to continue into Friday night racing which features the $50,000 Silver Goblin Stakes for top Oklahoma-bred sprinters at 6-1/2 furlongs. The first race on Friday and Saturday evening is at 7pm.

Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park also features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the $250,000 Springboard Mile for 2-year-olds, to be run on December 15, 2013.

Tracked by over 46,000 fans on Facebook and 4,700 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
