VAZQUEZ TRIPLES SATURDAY NIGHT AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY – Jockey Ramon Vazquez continued his stellar initial season at Remington Park with a three-win Saturday evening. The triple puts him just one win out of the lead in the rider standings with 17 race dates left in the meeting.
Vazquez began his natural hat trick with three consecutive wins in races three, four and five. The successful run began in the third race aboard Lively Vision ($2.80 to win), followed by Bim Bam ($3.60) in the fourth and Xray Vision ($5) in the fifth.
The three-win night gives Vazquez 46 scores for the season, placing him just one win behind leading rider Luis Quinonez and his 47 wins. Cliff Berry is third with 44 wins while Alex Birzer is a close fourth with 43.
The Pat Steinberg Memorial Award goes to the leading jockey in the Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park. Berry has won the title a record 15 times while Luis Quinonez has captured the top spot once. Both Vazquez and Birzer are seeking their first local riding championships.
The 25th Anniversary Season continues Wednesday thru Saturday, Nov. 13-16 at Remington Park with the first race nightly at 7pm.
Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park also features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the $250,000 Springboard Mile for 2-year-olds, to be run on December 15, 2013.
