RARE COURAGE CONTINUES REMINGTON PARK TURF WIN STREAK

OKLAHOMA CITY – A consistent turf runner throughout his career, Rare Courage is still a perfect turf runner at Remington Park. Thursday night, he won his third consecutive race over the local course, triumphant in a $34,486 allowance event at 1-1/16 miles.

Owned by Al and Bill Ulwelling of Elk River, Minn. and trained by Michael Biehler, Rare Courage came home in front under Luis Quinonez. The 4-year-old gelding sat just off the lead of Mojo Workin before taking over with a furlong left, drawing off to win by 1-3/4 lengths. Rare Courage crossed the finish in 1:44.44 over the firm turf.

Away at 4-1 odds in the wagering, Rare Courage paid $10 to win, $5.40 to place and $3.60 to show. Mojo Workin held second to pay $11 to place and $6 to show. Evansville Runaway was two lengths behind the runner-up in third and paid $3.60 to show. Splendiferous was the even-money wagering favorite, finishing a beaten fifth.

A Kentucky-bred son of Dehere from the Cryptoclearance mare Ask Jo Jo, Rare Courage won his fifth career start from 19 attempts to earn $19,692 in the process. Overall, he has now banked $97,391.

The 25th Anniversary Season continues Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 & 9 at Remington Park with the first race nightly at 7pm. The $100,000 Clever Trevor Stakes, named after the Oklahoma-bred millionaire who won the very first Oklahoma Derby in 1989, is the feature event of the week on Friday night. The Clever Trevor is the second-leg of the Remington Park 2-year-old Triple Series which culminates with the $250,000 Springboard Mile on Dec. 15.
