Fair grounds opening night card attracts 90 horses

 

NEW ORLEANS (Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013) – Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots’ Opening Night card, scheduled on an early date this Friday, November 22, attracted 90 runners to the entry box for the nine-race card. Post time is 3 p.m. Central for the special Exotic Starlight Racing event that also features ostrich and camel racing, along with a mascot race that includes six local sports mascots. Live music and local restaurant fare will also be offered as part of this special kickoff event.

 

The card is highlighted by a second-level Louisiana-bred allowance event scheduled as the fifth race, with a post time of 5:45 p.m. Central. Morning line favorite Nubin Ridge heads the competitive field of eight. Louisiana-breds star throughout the evening, with another quality allowance heat and a maiden special weight event carded as the third and fourth races, respectively.

 

Three-time defending Fair Grounds riding champion Rosie Napravnik is named on six runners on the Opening Night card, while James Graham, her closest pursuer in the standings in both of the last two seasons, is named to ride all nine races.
