Nashua (G2) Quotes

Arthur Magnuson, assistant to Kiaran McLaughlin, winning trainer of Cairo Prince (No. 12): "There was a strong headwind down the backside. We thought he'd be pretty close, but you worry at the five-sixteenths pole about how much he has left after he's made a run into that wind. Of course, you're also excited about the Remsen and Florida and next year in May. [Whether he runs in the Grade 2, $400,000 Remsen on November 30] is totally up to Kiaran, Mr. [Paul] Braverman, Mr. [Harvey] Clarke, and Mr. [Terence] Murray."

Luis Saez, winning jockey aboard Cairo Prince (No. 12): "He keeps improving. Today, he was impressive. On the turn, he wanted to run, so I let him, and he was flying. I had a lot of horse at the top of the stretch and he just kept going."

Rick Violette, trainer of runner-up Financial Mogul (No. 3): "He's a nice horse who wants to go long and get the two turns. Jose Ortiz did a nice job on him. When you have one horse beat and you put your hands down and trust he's going to come forward, that's pretty game. He did everything right. We'll talk about the Remsen. I just got off the phone with [co-owner] Seth Klarman and he said, 'Do whatever you want to do.' That's going to come up a monster race, but we'll think about it."

Leah Gyarmati, trainer of third-place finisher Noble Moon (No. 6): "I think he ran huge. He almost went down when [Awesome Wildcat] slammed him at the start. [Jockey] Alex [Solis] said he's so big and strong that he just took it. After that, he settled down and made one run, so now I know he can close, too."
