NEW ORLEANS (Friday, November 29, 2013) – Gaining the advantage just after the break, Lothenbach Stables’   Eden Prairie made the pace with hobby horse early fractions of 26.13 and 52.13 and drew off late for a five and a half-length tally in Friday’s $75,000 Pago Hop at Fair Grounds Racecourse & Slots.

The about one-mile test over a Stall-Wilson turf course rated soft proved no problem for the sophomore filly ridden confidently by Rosie Napravnik, who was scoring her fourth victory of the day astride the even-money favorite, who returned $4.20, $2.80 and $2.20 while posting a final time of 1:40.56.

“She probably had the best speed in the race,” said Napravnik. “With those early fractions I should hope (she could get the distance.)”

Asked if he was worried about the outcome before the race, winning trainer Neil Pessin said, “The only thing I was worried about was the turf being soft, but she proved she can pretty much handle anything.”

Eden Prairie increased her career earnings to $192,389 with her fourth career victory in 11 lifetime starts

Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Always Kitten finished second, paying $3.80 and $2.60 while a neck in front of Holt Racing et al.’s Promise Me More, who returned $2.40 to show.

Channel Eleven, Red Hot Tweet and She’s On Parade completed the field under the wire.

Racing returns to Fair Grounds Saturday with the $75,000 Woodchopper as the feature race of the afternoon.  Post time is 1 p.m.
