CANTICLE STAYS PERFECT AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY – Canticle made her second local attempt Friday night at Remington Park in a $33,000 allowance event at 6-1/2 furlongs for older fillies and mares. She ran her local record to a perfect two-for-two, in convincing fashion.
Owned by Craig Drago of Edmond, Okla. and trained by Chris Hartman, Canticle was ridden by Ken Tohill. The 3-year-old filly won her first start in Oklahoma City on Oct. 19, posting victory in a six-furlong allowance while holding on to win by a neck. The final margin was not that close this time around as she took control before the field of nine left the turn and opened up to a five-length lead in the stretch.
Tohill let Canticle glide home over the final yards once the race appeared to be hers, allowing a late-charging Bilirrubina to close the final margin to 1-1/2 lengths. Canticle crossed the finish in 1:16.89 over the fast track.
The 2-1 wagering favorite, Canticle paid $6 to win, $4.60 to place and $2.60 to show. Bilirrubina returned $13.60 to place and $4 to show. Behavioral was third, paying $3.20 to show.
A Kentucky-bred daughter of Unbridled’s Song from the Pulpit mare Palais Versailles, Canticle has won four of 14 career starts. Her second Remington Park score added another $19,596 to her career earnings, bumping the money to $125,505.
Remington Park racing continues Saturday, Nov. 2 with a special afternoon post time of 1:30pm. The Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be simulcast from Santa Anita Park in southern California on Saturday afternoon. Remington Park will alternate live racing with the big-money stakes events that culminate with the $5,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Classic at 7:30pm.
Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park also features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the $250,000 Springboard Mile for 2-year-olds, to be run on December 15, 2013.
Tracked by over 42,000 fans on Facebook and 4,300 Twitter followers, Remington Park is Oklahoma City’s only Racetrack & Casino and is located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
