QUALITY COUNCIL WIRES ALLOWANCE FIELD FRIDAY
OKLAHOMA CITY – A move back to the main track after sprinting over the turf worked well for Quality Council on Friday at Remington Park as the 5-year-old horse went gate-to-line with ease to score.
Dropping from higher allowance company to a $30,000 allowance/optional $18,000 claiming event, Quality Council rolled to a 4-1/2 length win while never seriously threatened. Owned by Marc Ferrell of Los Angeles and trained by Steve Asmussen, jockey Ramon Vasquez guided Quality Council over six furlongs in 1:09.59 on the fast track.
Away at 3-2 odds in the wagering, Quality Council paid $5 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.80 to show. Manewal held on to second to return $4 to place and $3 to show. Runs With Bulls was third and paid $2.80 to show.
A Kentucky-bred by Elusive Quality from the Cape Town mare Kalahari, Quality Council won his fourth career race from 14 attempts while winning his second race at Remington Park. The winner’s share of $18,000 moves the overall earnings for Quality Council to $130,892.
Remington Park’s 25th Anniversary Season continues Saturday, Oct. 12, with the first race at 7pm. The $1,000,000 Oklahoma Classics night of racing is fast approaching as the program of divisional stakes racing for Oklahoma-breds falls on Friday, Oct. 18.
