GAYLORD FEATURES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RETURN OF BEAU RAVELLE

OKLAHOMA CITY – Friday night’s $50,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Remington Park has a field of nine with eight wagering interests. Beau Ravelle, an impressive 8-1/2 length winner of her career debut a month ago, will make her return in the Gaylord as the 7-5 morning-line favorite.

Owned by the extensive Shawnee, Okla. partnership of Rusty Taylor, Elaine Holliday, Margaret Davis, Jerry Davis and Mike Walker, Beau Ravelle sat just off the pace in her Sept. 12 maiden event before making her move. Under jockey Belen Quinonez, Beau Ravelle left the backstretch of the six-furlong race, moving four-paths wide into the turn.

By the middle of the turn, she had gained the front. In just a few more strides by the top of the stretch, Beau Ravelle was a clear leader who would stretch her advantage to double-digit lengths. Once certain of the outcome, Quinonez let the precocious filly gallop out down the lane, bringing her victorious run back down to a single-digit length romp. She performed with minimal effort and was never seriously encouraged by her pilot, crossing the finish in a meet-best time of 1:09.54 for six furlongs.

Trained by Scott Young, Beau Ravelle will be coupled in the Gaylord with stable-mate Honey’s Ryan, who is owned by the same Shawnee, Okla. group. Honey’s Ryan took two races to graduate to the ranks of winners, scoring in her second try by seven lengths.

Dream S’more enters the Gaylord off a 5-1/2 length allowance win at Penn National in Grantville, Pa. on Sept. 28. She is owned by Danny White of Hot Springs, Ark. and trained by Eric Reed.

Bakken Baby will attempt to win her third straight race in the Gaylord after winning a pair of allowance races here in back-to-back fashion. Owned by Larry Huntsinger and Phil Head of Lorena, Texas, Bakken Baby is trained by Michael Franklin and won her most recent attempt by 12-1/2 lengths.

The field for the Gaylord Memorial, by program and saddle-towel order, with trainer, jockey and morning-line odds:
