BERRY REGAINS LEAD IN CLOSE RACE ATOP JOCKEY STANDINGS
OKLAHOMA CITY – Remington Park’s 25th Anniversary Thoroughbred Season moved into the month of October with a three-way tie atop the jockey standings. Coming into Wednesday night racing, Cliff Berry, Luis Quinonez and Alex Birzer each had 24 wins through the first 26 race dates of the season. Berry regained the lone advantage after posting a riding double Wednesday.
Berry, a Jones, Okla. resident, scored with Louies Flower ($4.80 to win) in the second race. He then won aboard Here Comes Sue ($4.80) in the eighth race. The pair of victories gives him 26 for the season.
Birzer tried to keep pace, winning once in the fifth race on Weightlifter ($5.20), giving him 25 season wins. Quinonez was shutout, unable to visit the winner’s circle in five attempts during the night.
