NEW ORLEANS (Sunday, December 09, 2012) – Lee Lange’s Im Funny for Money, allowed to settle behind the early leader, took command at the three-sixteenths pole and drew off for a two-length tally in Sunday’s featured $43,000 allowance race at a mile and 70 yards.
Ridden by Richard Eramia and trained by Corale Richards, Im Funny for Money returned mutuels of $12.40, $6.20 and $3.40, toured the distance in 1:44.78 and increased his career earnings to $66,250 with his third win in seven lifetime starts.
Wesley Hawley’s Haynesville Shale rallied late to be second best, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of Israel Flores Horses favored Shave and Pave, who had no rally.
Haynesville Shale paid $5 and $3, while Shave and Pave returned $2.20 in the show spot.
All Right Racing Stable’s Prince Robear set early fractions of 23.42 and 48.34 before tiring.
Racing resumes Thursday at Fair Grounds with a new first race post time of 1 p.m.
