Becomes ‘One to Watch’ in Upcoming 3-Year-Old Filly Series

By Graham Ross, Staff Writer

NEW ORLEANS (Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012) – Jerry Namy’s first-time starter Flashy Campaign, a precocious 2-year-old daughter of Political Force, stamped herself as one to watch in Fair Grounds’ upcoming sophomore filly series with her handy win in Sunday’s fourth race.

The first leg of the Crescent City oval’s series for 3-year-old members of the distaff set is the listed $125,000 Silverbulletday Stakes Jan. 19 and is followed by the Grade III Rachel Alexandra Stakes Feb. 23 and concludes with the Grade II Fair Grounds Oaks March 30.

Trained by Tom Amoss and ridden by Leandro Goncalves, Flashy Campaign prompted the pace of Twin Creeks Racing Stable’s Abundantly Clear, took command from that rival when set down for the drive and drew off late for a 4 1/2-length tally.

The winner paid $8.20, $3.80 and $2.60 and earned the $27,000 winner’s share of the six-furlong sprint. She toured the distance in 1:11.38.

Pacesetter Abundantly Clear, who posted early splits of 22.04 and 46.08, could not stay with the winner when challenged but held down the second spot at the wire, paying $3.60 and $2.40 while finishing three-quarters of a length in front of Dede McGehee’s Glitteronthehiway, who returned $2.40 to show.

Racing resumes Thursday at Fair Grounds with a nine-race program beginning at 12:40 p.m.
