MISS HOCKADAY IS A HORSE FOR A COURSE

OKLAHOMA CITY –  With a dramatic last-to-first burst, Miss Hockaday swept by her rivals in Saturday night’s $49,000 featured allowance race for fillies and mares.  The win was the ninth lifetime for the five-year-old mare and her fifth at the Oklahoma City oval.  It was also her third-straight win this season at Remington Park for the team of trainer Jearl “Ace” Hare and jockey Jenna Joubert.  The Kentucky-bred daughter of Greenwood Lake is owned by John Kester of Tulsa, Oklahoma and earned $23,898 for the win.  The race was scheduled for the turf course, but was moved to the sloppy main track due to heavy rains Friday and Saturday night.  The winner covered the mile & 1/16th distance over a sloppy track in 1:49.20

Miss Hockaday was the 5-2 second-choice and paid $7.60 to win, $5.40 to place and $4.60 to show.  Cat Vanblu was an 18-1 longshot and paid $10.20 to place and $7.60 to show.  She Has Bling finished third at 14-1 and paid $5.60 to show.  Patty’s Pride, the 8-5 favorite, was circled by the winner in the far turn but had no response and finished fourth.

Cliff Berry, Remington Park’s all-time leading jockey, won two races on the nine-race card.  Berry is now 11 wins away from career win 4,000.  A Berry Big Win, an on-track promotion at Remington Park has begun whereby patrons are eligible to win a drawing for $500 in cash and prices on whatever night Berry wins his 4,000 race.  Contestants may gain an entry blank for the drawing each time Cilff Berry wins a race at Remington Park.  Go to:  www.remingtonpark.com for more details.
