BURST OF LIFE GETS UP IN FLASHY LADY STAKES

OKLAHOMA CITY – The $50,000 Flashy Lady Stakes for older fillies and mares was the Friday night feature at Remington Park. Burst of Life sat ready to pounce in fifth for most of the six-furlong sprint, waiting for the front-runners to tire, before closing with a rush to win by a neck.

Owned by Lori Bravo of Sulphur, Okla. and trained by her husband Francisco Bravo, Burst of Life was ridden by Bryan McNeil. The 6-year-old mare was just up in the final strides to catch the dueling All About Allie and Moon Buzz who battled through most of the race at the front of the field of seven.

After waiting patiently in fifth place, about five lengths back, Burst of Life was asked for her run midway through the lone turn and responded. Angling away from the rail off the turn, Burst of Life was able to get an outside path to victory, sweeping past the pacesetters in the final yards. She crossed the finish in 1:10.07 over a fast track.

Burst of Life was 4-1 in the wagering and paid $10 to win, $4.60 to place and $2.40 to show. All About Allie was second and returned $5.20 to place and $2.60 to show. Moon Buzz paid $2.10 to show, finishing third as the beaten and heavy 1-2 wagering favorite.

Always showing an affinity for Remington Park, Burst of Life has won seven of her nine career races in Oklahoma City. At one time she won six consecutive races here over two years. The Flashy Lady Stakes was worth $30,000 to Burst of Life, to boost her career earnings to $140,355.

Bred in Kentucky by Green Hill Farm, Burst of Life is by Soto from the Halo mare Flora’s Temple.
