BRESSIE LEADS THROUGHOUT TO SCORE WICKED WITCHES PURSE

OKLAHOMA CITY – Halloween Night at Remington Park featured Oklahoma-bred fillies in the $36,800 Wicked Witches Purse, an allowance event at one mile over the turf. Bressie jumped quickly from the starting gate to the lead and never looked back in winning her first career race over the lawn.

Owned and trained by Steve Asmussen of Arlington, Texas and ridden by Jamie Theriot, Bressie was strong on the front end of the field of nine, winning by 1-1/2 lengths while never seriously challenged. Booleanna chased for second with Ooopsville Slew, the beaten 3-2 wagering favorite, running third.

Bressie handled the mile in 1:37.22 over the firm going at 5-2 odds and paid $7.60 to win, $4.80 to place and $2.60 to show. Booleanna returned $5.60 to place and $3.40 to show. Oopsville Slew paid $2.40 to show.

A 6-year-old mare by Fast Play from the Cherokee Colony mare Essie’s Link, Bressie won her eighth race from 33 career starts and her fourth victory at Remington Park. The winner’s share of $21,196 increases her lifetime earnings to $112,996.

Jockey Luis Quinonez won two races on Wednesday night to pull within three of leading rider Cliff Berry in the standings. Berry leads 44-41 with 22 race dates left in the season.

The 2012 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season continues Thursday and Friday night with the first race at 6:30pm. Special Saturday afternoon racing begins at 1:30pm as Remington Park will alternate live racing with the simulcasts of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships from Santa Anita Park in southern California.
