RACING FANS CAN CATCH SHUTTERBUG FEVER WITH PHOTO CONTEST AT SARATOGA RACE COURSE

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) announced today that racing fans and photography enthusiasts will have the opportunity to capture the fun, pageantry and history of the 144^th Saratoga Race Course season on camera, showcasing their shutterbug skills for a chance to win weekly prizes through the Times Union Track Pics Photo Contest.

Beginning Opening Day, July 20, participants can submit their original photos of fun, fashion, or world-class thoroughbred racing to compete for one of several prizes, including reserved seats, complimentary breakfast or lunches, tickets to the Travers Celebration and more.

The Grand Prize includes paddock passes, an opportunity to photograph a race from the Winner's Circle, and a photograph with the winner’s favorite Saratoga jockey.

To enter, participants must submit their photos to the “Track Pics” album on the Times Union website: http://timesunion.com/trackpics. Photos must be original work and taken on the grounds of the Saratoga Race Course during the 2012 meet. Multiple entries are allowed, but entrants can only win once. Winners will be notified by email. A valid email address is required.

Photo submissions will be moderated. Times Union staff will present a gallery of the best submissions and feature them on the paper’s home and Saratoga track online pages.

The photo contest runs Friday, July 20 through Monday, August 27, with a new winner announced every Tuesday during track season. Winners may pick up their prizes at the Times Union offices located at 645 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY.

Photo Contest Time Frame and Prizes

July 20-23. Winner will be selected on July 24 and will receive two reserved grandstand seats and a $25 Dunkin' Donuts gift card.

July 25-30. Winner will be selected on July 31 and will receive two tickets to the Times Union's Galloping Grapes wine tasting on August 5.

August 1-6. Winner will be selected on August 7 and will receive two tickets to the Times Union Trackside Breakfast and a $25 Dunkin' Donuts gift card.

August 8-13. Winner will be selected on August 14 and will receive two tickets for lunch in the Carousel Restaurant.

August 15-20. Winner will be selected on August 21 and will receive two tickets to the Travers Celebration on August 23, the official gala of the Travers Stakes.

August 22-27. Winner will be selected on August 28 and will receive two tickets to the Times Union Labor Day BBQ.

The Grand Prize Winner will be selected on or after August 28 and will receive an opportunity to visit the paddock prior to one race, an opportunity to watch and photograph a race from the winner's circle, and an opportunity to meet and have a picture taken with a favorite jockey. Grand Prize must be redeemed before the end of the 2012 Saratoga racing season.
