DETAILS:     The millinery mayhem of the 21st annual Hat Contest will cap off the festivities of opening weekend at Saratoga Race Course.

The headlining event of the annual “Hats Off to Saratoga” festival, the Hat Contest will once again feature a chapeau showdown in three categories - Uniquely Saratoga, Fashionably Saratoga, and for younger patrons, Kreative Kids.

Hat contest registration will begin at noon under the grandstand. The competition will unfold on the track apron after the second, third and fourth races, as participants parade in front of the judges for the chance to win a variety of Saratoga prizes including betting vouchers and gift certificates.

“Kreative Kids” – the first category of the afternoon - is reserved for those 18 and under. The category entitled “Fashionably Saratoga” invites contestants to don their most beautiful hats; and following the fourth race, the most original artisans will go head to head for the title of “Uniquely Saratoga.”

The annual contest caps off a series of festivities and events to celebrate Hats Off to Saratoga weekend, which welcomes the return of the thoroughbreds for the 144th season at Saratoga Race Course.
