July 13, 2012 - Lexington, KY - Subsequent to Dr. Bramlage's statement this morning the New York Times called and corrected the statistic quoted from the NBC interview that Dr. Bramlage did, but that was not aired. The "24 deaths per week" was calculated by the New York Times from injury data reported from the racetracks, and not from the specialized assessment criteria developed by the New York Times. We should have checked this fact before Dr. Bramlage commented. We apologize for the error. A corrected version of the statement is found here:
