REMINGTON PARK STABLE GATE OPENS, TRAINER WILSON BROWN BRINGS FIRST HORSE ON GROUNDS FOR THOROUGHBRED SEASON

OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2012 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season will begin on Friday, Aug. 10. Early this morning the business of preparation for the meeting started as Trainer Wilson Brown brought the first horse onto the property.

Stall Office coordinator Ace Hare reported Brown brought Aint No Mo Blues into the track stable area at 6:30pm, officially marking the start of the lead-up to Opening Night. A resident of Jones, Okla., Brown has enjoyed much success at Remington Park over the years. He saddled Ted’s Folly to six straight wins here in 2011, earning Horse of the Meeting honors after winning the Springboard Mile, the top 2-year-old race of the season.

Owned by Carol Waller of McLoud, Okla., Aint No Mo Blues is seeking her second career victory. She broke her maiden status earlier this year at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. The 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Emblazon from the Cure The Blues mare Winter Blues has a win and a second from four attempts overall.

By mid-afternoon, nearly 100 Thoroughbreds had been officially admitted to the premises at Remington Park. The capacity of the stable area exceeds 1,400.

The 2012 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park opens on Aug. 10 and continues thru Dec. 9. Racing will be conducted on a Friday and Saturday night basis for two weeks before adding Wednesday and Thursday to the weekly schedule beginning Aug. 22. Normal post time is 6:30pm.

The top day of the season is on Sunday, Sept. 30, featuring the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby. The 24th-running of the race will headline a card worth more than $1 million. Oklahoma Derby Day is one of just two Sunday afternoon programs during the season with the other begin Dec. 9, featuring the $300,000 Springboard Mile.
