VAGRANCY HANDICAP (G2) QUOTES
Rick Dutrow, Jr., winning trainer of C C’s Pal (No. 1a): “We’re very happy with this filly today. In the Barbara Fritchie she was getting out so bad, we didn’t know what is was, and it wound up being her foot. We got that straightened out and in her training, she’s been doing so good lately. She’s been very happy, like a different horse. I can’t wait to watch her run next time. At the sixteenth pole, I thought we were going to get beat. But we showed up. Next? We’ll just wing it, see where the good fillies are going, and try to duck them until we have to hit them. She’ll get a little break.”
Junior Alvarado, winning jockey aboard C C’s Pal (No. 1a): “It didn’t look like there was that much speed, so I just broke out of the gate and let her go. Turning for home, I thought nobody would catch me; she really has a nice kick. When I saw Ramon [Dominguez]’s horse [Nicole H] outside, I said, ‘Oh, my God!’ When I put her next to the other horse, she gave me that extra heart.”
Eric Fein, winning owner of C C’s Pal (No. 1a): “Awesome horse. She’s just all heart. She’s great. She’s just got heart. I think [Dutrow] has done an amazing job with her, but she’s just a special horse, considering she wasn’t bred to be what she is. So exciting. I was a little nervous. I said, ‘I can’t believe she’s going to run second again in a graded race.’ I wanted that graded win for her. The jock turned her head a little bit, she saw the other horse, she fights. We’ll just take our time with her now. She’s proven she’s got more heart than anybody.”
